Character design updates

Since Nerdi's joined we've been collaborating on designs with us moodboarding concepts for services - pinkleap.app and tokimeki.blue Two services I had heard of naturally through non-atprotocol devs who I don't often get to see highlighted but seem to popular with Queer users and Artists.

Meet Pinkleap!

Meet Pinkleap! Originally called Pinksky - the service started off as an Atprotocol exclusive service before expanding to full support to activitypub as well - featuring an Instagram like interface that converts all bluesky/mastodon picture posts into this, while preserving feeds and messages.

How I and many users originally discovered Pinksky was actually was with the Queer community - Many gay and bisexual men used the original #pinksky hashtag to hook-up! I had originally thought it was an on protocol Grindr because of that, but later saw the app and thought it was pretty great. It even made me realize I don't hate Instagram, I just hate their forced algorithm.

Working with multiple Queer men on advisory like divinejasper.bsky.social and my own partner, another queer man who's taught me many things about gay hook-up culture - to make sure the designs were respectful and didn't feel like caricatures nerdigrey.bsky.social damyclesva-art.bsky.social and I worked to moodboard concepts on Roomy. The idea was to make him a queer and multi-racial man - making a nod to Pinkleap's federation across Activitypub and Atprotocol, something planned on being included into the world-building of the story. As a Caribbean person the pink Flamingo design of the logo instantly screamed Caribana - The largest celebration of Caribbean culture in North America.

We also wanted to play with the interface and features translating to travel, photography, and art based experiences and culture, giving him lots of photography equipment, charms, and just a hint of nod to leather culture - an important part of Queer history.

Meet Tokimeki

A microblogging interface for Atprotocol, kind of like Tweetdeck on steroids - Tokimeki is a Japanese client for atprocotol services allowing you pin as many special types of feeds and features - allowing you to customize the entire interface and track things like long-form posts, DRAW YOUR OWN REPLIES, schedule posts, color themes, and a bunch of really amazing tools, including their own long form posting service. It is primarily in Japanese, but most browsers add translation that makes it pretty easy to use.

Since nerdigrey.bsky.social introduced me to the service - I allowed him to design it largely without input other than agreeing that a more cyberpunk hacker character with infinite tools was the way to go.

As a bonus: periberi.bsky.social provided fun emoji image for Tokimeki!

As we work to flesh out this project and figuring out the exact scope of projects, at the very least we still plan on releasing character designs regularly, if only to help promote these services!
